This is an easy and fun recipe that you can also make with the kiddos, should you choose to make it a family filled tradition. Use lots of different cookie cutter shapes such as Christmas trees, ornaments, snowflakes, snowmen, candy canes etc. for a decorative assortment. Prepare piping bags filled with a variety of royal icing colors, small bowls of candy and crystals to sprinkle on top. These delicious, buttery cookies are the perfect Christmas cookie. Use holiday shapes such as ornaments, Christmas trees, snowmen, candy-canes etc. to create something unique and special. Dress the cookies with Nutella, lemon icing, royal colored icing - so many options!

Ingredients
  1. 2 cups flour
  2. 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
  3. 1 cup butter (do not use Margarine) butter should be room temperature
  4. pinch of salt
Instructions
  1. Using a hand-held mixer or stand mixer, cream butter and sugar till smooth.
  2. Slowly add the flour and salt until incorporated. Move cookie dough to a lightly flowered surface (cutting board, counter-top etc.) and knead till mixture cracks slightly.
  3. Bake at 350 F for 10 to 11 minutes until the cookies start to turn a slight golden color (you don't want them to brown - pull out just before you see this starting to happen).
  4. Cool completely before adding desired toppings - royal icing glaze, Nutella etc.
